Selected lyrics from the tune 'Baby Beluga' - printed above the dresser in the room
Funny story about the above pillow sham - the first time it came in the mail, it looked like this:
Can you say 'fail whale' ?! The whale is frowning and the name is upside down. Nice quality control.
And because I'm a proud mom, here are a couple of cute newborn photos of Rocco in the whale basket from his room:
Such a cute room! Everyone is dying to know about that lovely rug source. Paint color? :) Rocco is darling.
ReplyDeleteThanks Catherine!
DeleteThe rug is made by 'Momeni' and the style is called 'Lil Mo Hipster LMT-1 Surf'. It comes in several rectangular sizes, but only one round size - 5 feet across. I personally never saw this rug in any store in real life, only online. It's sold by several vendors, the one I personally used was rugdepot.com because they had it for the best price!
As for the paint color, it's made by Behr but it was a customized version of their color 'Classic Silver'.
Hope that helps!
I too LOVE the rug! It will go perfectly with my son's surf theme (he's due in May). Where did you find those curtains?! I love the pattern and so fitting with the decor.
ReplyDeleteAs a side note, we had a funny experience with PBK when they personalized a chair cover that we'd ordered in denim but did it in pink gingham! I haven't met a girl named Brody yet so I'm not sure what the issue was. :)
Love the room, it's adorable!
Thanks so much! Got to love PBK quality control!
DeleteThe curtains are from Ikea: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80173916/
However I had a friend sew a blackout liner on to the backs of them to make them look more substantial and because blackout curtains can't hurt for a baby's room ;)
What a great room, and such a cute kid!! So glad I saw this post on Apartment Therapy! I love the whale basket, and of course the rug. Thanks for sharing your sources, where did you find the basket? I know I've seen it somewhere before!
ReplyDeletewww.growingupsenge.blogspot.com
Thank you so much for the compliments! The whale basket is from Pottery Barn Kids, but unfortunately is no longer being sold :( Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
DeleteSuch an adorable room (and baby)! Is the whale above the crib hand painted or a decal? If it's a decal, would you mind sharing where it's from?
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy - thanks!
DeleteThe whale is a decal (I can't paint a straight line to save my life!). We purchased it through http://dalidecals.com/ using a Groupon, but it's a custom decal my husband created the design for, so you won't find it on their website. I still have the file though, so let me know if you'd be interesting in having it. warning - I can't personally customize it too much beyond trying to change the name in the water spout or removing the name all together.
Hi Holly!
DeleteI absolutely love your son's nursery. We would love to use the design your husband created. Please let me know where I can send you my information. Thank you!
Thank you so much! Just post your email address here and I will email you the file! :)
DeleteCould you please email me the file with the name Jackson? Where should I provide my email address?
DeleteI know this is SUPER old at this point, but I stumbled upon this when searching for whale nursery ideas for a baby shower.. If it still exists, could I please have that file? Vlblume[at]gmail[dot]com. Thanks so much for sharing your adorable room and family! :)
DeleteI stumbled across Rocco's room on Apartment Therapy while searching for ideas to redecorate my older sons room. I had to come here and leave you a message - the nursery is absolutely adorable, as is baby Rocco. I also wanted to tell you that I have a son named Rocco born in October 2010. I also did his room in a whale theme and I also have a newborn photo of him in the pbk whale basket. Its all just so coincidental and funny to me!
ReplyDeleteTake care and congratulations.
Wow that is a crazy coincidence!! I haven't met anyone who has a son named Rocco, only seen very few somewhat whale themed nurseries online, and have only seen one other newborn photo in the pbk whale basket. For you to have all three just shocks me!! How funny!! I would love to see some photos of your nursery and from your newborn photoshoot in the pbk basket if they are online. :)
DeleteHi Holly and Cynthia,
DeleteI LOVE this theme and Rocco is adorable. Would either of you be willing to sell your whale basket? If so, please PLEASE let me know! I am on the hunt and it would be perfect in our nursery for our little guy coming in December!
Love the room! And those sweet pics of your cute baby in that basket! I would love to know where you got those fun white picture frames!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! The white picture frames are made by Organic Bloom. Unfortunately they do not sell directly to the public - you have to order them through a professional photographer/retailer. You can find who in your local area sells them by going here: http://theorganicbloom.com/locator. The ones I specifically have are the 'Eva' style, size 11x14. Another company that makes similar fun shaped frames I have stumbled upon is this: http://www.fancifulframes.com/ (though I can't speak to their quality since I don't own any, but they look very similar!). Hope that helps!
DeleteI stumbled upon Apartment Therapy featuring Rocco's room while looking up idea for a "Baby Beluga" theme. I absolutely LOVE the whale decal with the name in the water spout. Would you mind sharing that with me?
ReplyDeleteSure! I just need your email address to send the file to you :)
DeleteOur first son is due in September, and I want a simple sea-inspired theme. I love the whale decal and would really appreciate you sending me the file. My husband and I love the simple yet beautiful decal. Your husband did a great job designing it. My email address is strgzr1020@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteYou've got an email! :)
DeleteHello! I actually found your nursery on Pinterest and have been using it as my go-to for ideas. I have probably searched and seen a thousand other nurseries by now, and yours is still the best one! Whales are my favorite animal, and if we were expecting a boy, his name was going to be Jonah. Turns out, we are expecting a little girl. Her name is Morgan, and I am still doing her room in whales (just using some purples to girlie it up a bit). :)
ReplyDeleteMay I ask where you found those picture frames and the Beluga pictures in them?
Hi Tiffany - sorry it has taken me so long to respond! Thank you so much for the compliments!

The photos themselves I found online and edited myself to make them print better and match each other a little more in terms of color tone. I can't find the originals online anymore, but if you want my files I can email them to you - just give me your email address.
Good luck decorating Morgan's room! I hope you come back and show me some photos of the room once it's completed - I'd love to see it!!
Hello Holly,
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are expecting our first child on Dec. 1st, 2012. He and I have been together for 16 years and married since 2003. Although we have 4 dogs and are completely dog obsessed, we live on Cape Cod and love the water. We honeymooned in Orlando, and literally my favorite place on earth is Sea World (we even had dinner with Shamu one night during our honeymoon) . We are both teachers, but I always wanted to be a marine biologist and work there. So, now that we found out the sex of the baby... A boy, we are contemplating themes. Immediately I thought nautical or whales. When I typed that into the Google search bar, Rocco's nursery left me spellbound. The decal, the rug, the frames with the belugas, your bedding, the basket... Sheer perfection. Then I read your blog and became more enthused about the nursery; Rocco is beautiful and seems like such a character. All that being said, if you could email me decal info and the whale photos, you would leave me simply giddy. My email is tinkerbobo@yahoo.com. Thank you, Janice
You are too sweet!! You have an email :)
DeleteWow! What a beautiful nursery! We are expecting our second son and were wanting to do a whale theme! I love the decal and was hoping you could also share with me?? I see you've already had several requests! It's the cutest I have seen!! Thank you and congratulations! Amanda

Hi Holly! I love your nursery! You have a great eye for decorating. I especially love the whale decal. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you mind emailing me the template? We will be using the name Eli. Thanks so much! My email address is mbarile11@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteYour nursery is truly an inspiration. I am one of those design challenged people and would love if you could send me the whale template as well as the photos you edited for the wall. A blank template would be preferable as we haven't picked a name yet. Once again thank you for sharing! Sharly. Sharlyr@gmail.com

ReplyDeleteYou should really consider going into decal design part time, this must be the most popular decal in the world. If you are still sending them out I would love to use this...sybilfay@yahoo.com.
ReplyDeleteHi I'm looking for the PBK white whale basket. Do you know where I could get one or are you ready to sell yours? Plese let me know.
